I've been seeing so many awesome and affordable capsule collections released from the "big guys". It's such a good idea, and I wish it hadn't taken a recession to cause it to happen, but they are here in more numbers than ever before, so let's embrace them! It's an excellent way for the runway collaborations to reach mainstream admirers who might not be (probably not) be able to afford the big labels but love the looks.
Here are my two favorites:
1) Prabal Gurung
This newcomer has made big strides in the fashion world since 2009, when he launched his first collection. He already has a couple of awards under his belt: the 2010 Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award & the 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear. (He's pretty cute, too!)
This year he teamed up with Target, to pan his collections out to a wider audience. I saw one of his beautiful shoes and though I was sorely tempted to buy a pair, however I only went to Target to get cat food and I was sticking to the plan. But seriously, check out these pieces and wipe the drool off your chin:
2) Versace for H&M
I heard the Launch party was quite fun, a rare throwback to the late Gianna. There were lots of celebrities, including this sexy beast----------->
The dress Coco Rocha is wearing is absolutely breathtaking, while I like the edgy detail in the dress that Blake Lively is sporting. The crazy retro floral patterns and bright neons, coupled with the black bandanas, made a fun show.
